Marilyn has been married to her wonderful husband, Jim, for 38 years and they are the parents of two grown sons. Now that the nest is empty, they enjoy traveling, visiting family, and finally getting to watch what they want to watch on T.V.! Marilyn loves growing flowers and vegetables, pulling weeds, and battling the birds and bugs for the fruits of her labor. When it’s 105 degrees outside, she is in the air conditioning either reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, or watching British T.V.
After receiving her B.A. from Texas A&M – Commerce, Marilyn taught public school for a couple of years. Once she and Jim had their first son, however, they made the decision to homeschool and never looked back. Throughout that journey, God provided many opportunities to teach not only her own children, but others as well through church, homeschool co-ops, and homeschool academies. With each step in the journey, the Lord revealed how He was growing her – equipping her to teach, expanding her heart for children of all ages, and privileging her to be part of pointing them to Christ. That last part is the most important, and is always her goal no matter what subject is being taught.
Proverbs 16:9 says that “the heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps,” and the opportunity to serve at HCS is just the latest step on the path God is unrolling into Marilyn’s future. She is excited to serve the students and families here and to impart her love of reading, language, and communication to her classes in the expectation that they will become lifelong readers and enthusiastic communicators of God’s love to a dying world.
Oscar Romero has been blessed and happily married to his wife, Rebecca, for 28 years. Together they have raised six children with the youngest just graduating high school and ready for college. Oscar and Rebecca enjoy spending quality time with their grandchildren, and Oscar also enjoys playing racquetball, golf, basketball, and solving sudoku puzzles. Oscar and Rebecca feel privileged in having formed great fellowships within the families at Calvary Chapel Fort Worth.
Oscar is a Navy veteran who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in chemistry. He studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso and worked in the electric motor industry for over 25 years. During this time, Oscar was blessed by the Lord in having become a co-patent holder. For some time, Oscar desired to teach, and the Lord opened a door for him to become a certified teacher. He served as a high school science teacher and found the true blessing it is to be a teacher and guide students to excel.
Oscar's desire is not only to have the students learn academic content, but to enjoy and be inspired by how the Lord's scripture shows itself to be true. Teaching in public schools became very challenging for him as his heart is to teach truth in a Christ-centered life. Oscar believes that God is in everything. The Lord moved him from El Paso three years ago and allowed him to become a teacher at Haltom Christian School to serve as a helper, indeed bondservant, for God's glory.

She has more than 20 years of experience working with children and families including teaching kindergarten readiness programs and at child development centers. Her goal is to follow the path that the Lord has chosen for her and to do everything in love as she serves here at HCS.
Myriam loves exploring God's creation, listening to little ones count and sing in Spanish, and seeing students express themselves and their hearts through their artistic creations. She passionately follows the calling that the Lord has placed in her heart - to serve Him faithfully wherever He places her. Sarah Wallace is the P.E. teacher at HCS. She has been married to her husband, Tim, for thirteen years, and enjoys living life in the country on their farm. Sarah and Tim are blessed with three boys together who continuously inspire her to live life to the fullest and love others wholeheartedly. Sarah loves spending every opportunity adventuring God's creation outdoors, cheering at her boys' multi-sports events year round, and actively competing in triathlons across the U.S.
Sarah holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Western Governor's University where she graduated with national honors. Sarah discovered her truest passion for teaching through the gift of growing her own children academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Sarah's pursuit of becoming an educator deepened meaningfully by the growth of her children, the inspiration of her Mama, and the experience of teaching children in schools and children's ministry.
Sarah is passionate about strengthening every child's understanding in finding their unique purpose and immeasurable worth in Christ's love for them. She has an exhilarating zest for the endurance of athletic challenges, personal fitness, physical exercise, wholesome nutrition, and exploring how vast God's goodness stands in the foods and functions He created for our bodies. Kathleen is a Bible teacher this year at HCS. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, picture framing, and taking walks. However, Kathleen's greatest joy is spending time with the joys of her life - her daughter and her three beautiful and outgoing grandsons who love the outdoors, sports, animals, adventure, and spending time with their grandma. She loves spending meaningful time with her daughter as they gain strength together from the Lord and from each other.
Kathleen began her love for serving while teaching children in Calvary Chapel Fort Worth Kidz Church. From there, she developed a love for impoverished children while serving in the afterschool program with Love Never Fails International teaching godly character lessons, helping with homework, ministering to hurting hearts, and participating in group activities where God was always present. After serving in Love Never Fails, Kathleen taught special education classes in FWISD. This love for children led her to the mission field with LNFI’s global work in Mexico where you will find orphans receiving God’s love who now have a real family.
Kathleen wants to be an important part in the life of a child because she has great joy investing her time in those who fill her heart with laughter and so much joy. She teaches children so that she can learn, knowing each one is precious to God. Teaching God’s word to children at HCS will enable Kathleen to be obedient in what God is calling her to do, so that He will continue the good work He is doing in her.
